GLACIAL AGE ELK
Product Description
This was a rare find indeed. John Hambleton is holding the antlers from an elk estimated to be between 6000 and 8000 years old. It was pulled from the Middle Raccoon River in the area around Springbrook, Guthrie County, Iowa. The antlers were found by a fisherman whose line was snagged. When he waded into the water this was what his line was entangled on. The antlers measure almost 5 foot across. The estimated weight of the animal was in the neighborhood of 1,800 lbs. The antlers are on display at Iowa Trophy Hunting.
